Home runs from Jason Maulucci and Thomas Cassello enabled the Bolton High baseball team to snap a four-game losing streak and gain a 5-1 North Central Connecticut Conference win over visiting Coventry Monday.
Maulucci gave Bolton a quick lead with a two-run homer in the first inning and Cassello essentially put the game away with another two-run blast in the fifth.
Those two homers gave Bolton pitcher Liam Christ all the support he would need as he allowed just one run on six hits while pitching a complete game.
Maulucci finished with three hits for the Bulldogs (4-9) while Max Pagani had two.
Nicolai Vanek plated Coventry’s run with a sacrifice fly in the third and he also pitched a complete game for the Patriots (4-9). Nate Decker had two hits for Coventry.
Bolton returns to action Wednesday with a game at East Windsor. Coventry visits Suffield on Wednesday.
